Learning to Communicate...

If you've ever had the experience of trying to figure out a newborn, then you'll understand how I feel. It seems like a day to day process of figuring out what it is that she needs from me. I'm starting to cue into her little ways of communicating, but sometimes I wish she could just tell me what she needs at that moment. Here are some of the ways I know what she is feeling:
  1. Hungry - When she's hungry she wrinkles her nose, cries in short little spurts and eats her hand.
  2. Wet - She cries and wiggles her body uncomfortably.
  3. Satisfied - When she is satisfied with her meal, she has this happy little sigh, which I love to hear.
  4. Mildly uncomfortable - When she gets moved while sleeping, or feels the cold wipey against her tush, she makes this little grunt noise.
  5. Really uncomfortable/Scared - She cries louder and more consistently than normal (of which her cries really aren't that loud) and pouts her bottom lip.
  6. Playing - She makes these short little "ah" noises when she plays. Most of the time it's when she is lying down next to her dog Spot. It's like she's having conversations with him.

Little by little everyday...
